Ecuador's "Express" reported on February 13 that the Minister of Production Coordination Espinosa announced that the government will sign a framework agreement with BYD, Nissan, Kia, Renault manufacturers or agents to promote the sale of electric vehicles. According to the content of the agreement, the import of electric vehicles and spare parts of the above brands is not subject to customs duties, value added tax (IVA), special consumption tax (ICE), and is not subject to the quota of imported automobiles. It is reported that the price of mainstream electric vehicles in the Ecuadorian market will be between 30,000 and 40,000 US dollars. BYD agents said that the brand electric car will be imported from China in the second quarter of this year, the main model is the five-door version of the E6. Kia Motors will be available from July and will offer a 30% down payment for the down payment. In response to the need for electric vehicles to be recharged, Espinosa said the government will invest $3 million to $4 million to build charging stations.
