According to Cheng Jianfeng, senior chief designer of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., the CRH2G Chilled EMUs tackled five technical problems of high alpine resistance, sand resistance, high temperature resistance, adaptability to high altitude, and anti-ultraviolet aging, which can simultaneously adapt to alpine and sandstorms. The harsh operating environment such as high altitude is another major technological innovation in the field of high-speed EMUs in China. It is expected that the new high-speed railway will be put into operation at the end of 2015.
The research and development of the CRH2G Chill EMU took nearly 3 years before and after R&D, during which a large number of experimental studies were carried out to fully verify the technical performance of the EMU. Among them, there are 67 low-temperature-resistant tests, 16 anti-wind tests, and 6 high-altitude tests. They have passed line assessments at the Harbin HSR and Lanxin high-speed railways.
