Opel to enter five new markets, including China

Opel, the European subsidiary of General Motors, will for the first time sell vehicles outside Europe in the name of the Opel brand.

The report quoted Opel CEO Nick Reilly as saying that Opel will start selling the Opel models in China this year and will enter the Australian market next.

Nick Riley also said that, including China and Australia, Opel will start selling Opel models in five countries outside Europe, including two Latin American countries.

In the first half of this year, Opel's European sales volume was 530,000, a decrease of 4.5% compared with the same period of last year, and total losses exceeded 500 million euros.

In order to avoid competing with the parent company's GM models, Opel has not previously sold in markets outside of Europe. However, since Opel's current demand in the European market is saturated, Opel hopes to use China and other markets to reverse the loss situation.
