It is reported that Greek ship owner StealthGas president Harry Vafias recently said that the company has signed 15 LPG newbuildings, which has consolidated the company's market share in LPG. Of the 15 LPG ships, 11 were built by Japanese shipyards and the other 4 were built by Korean shipyards, making the company the largest non-Japanese new ship investor in the Japanese shipyard.
Vafias noted that the company currently has the largest LPG fleet in the world. When these new ships were delivered in 2014 and 2015, the company was able to provide shippers with the world's largest and youngest and most technologically advanced LPG fleet.
It is understood that StealthGas medium-term plan will double the fleet size, bringing the total number of ships to about 75, including LPG ships, oil tankers) and a few bulk carriers.
