On September 18th, the "Blue Book of the City: China Urban Development Report No. 7" was held in Beijing by the Institute of Urban Development and Environment of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Social Science Literature Publishing House.

The report believes that the issue of "going" has become the focus of the people's concern. As a flowing space, cars and fixed houses form two spaces corresponding to human activities. From the perspective of living mobile space, cars should be more and more important. In the level of human demand, the demand for “row” belongs to the intermediate level. At present, China's car ownership is 130 million, and an average of 10 people owns one car, including trucks and buses, so the car ownership is lower. According to the standard of small car in each family according to the well-off life, the car ownership must be doubled at least twice, reaching 400 million. The current annual production of automobiles is 20 million. According to the average use of cars for 10 years, the current output still needs to be doubled, and no export sales have been considered. It can be foreseen that with the promotion of urbanization in China and the trend of large-scale urbanization, as well as the construction of new rural areas, the demand for urban and rural automobiles will continue to increase, while at the same time, the scale of urban areas will increase by 50% on the existing basis. The contradiction between the car and the road will be further aggravated.

Therefore, the report suggests that in the contradiction between road and vehicle, it is futile to attempt to find a balance point in improving road supply. It must be clearly considered from the demand side. For big cities, it is a general trend to unswervingly develop public transportation and establish a sound public transportation system. Family cars can only be "luxury goods" and "emergency goods" that improve travel conditions, which has been confirmed by international precedents.
